Bar Brawls

Bar brawls are conducted without weapons, spells (at least, detectable spells!), or items besides improvised weapons in a tavern setting.

Setup:

  • Every player's AC is reduced by their drunkeness, on a scale from 0 (sober) to 5 (inebriated but functional). Anyone more drunk than this is hit automatically.
  • If you take 10 damage, you're out.

Combat:

  • Roll initiative
  • On your turn, you are attacked by a random NPC. On a hit, you take 1 HP damage. You may then ATTACK, DODGE, HIDE, or IMPROV (see below).
  • You may use your reaction once per turn to counter-attack after taking a hit. Take the ATTACK or IMPROV actions.

Moves:

  • ATTACK: Roll an attack (versus AC 10) against a brawler -- punch or improvised weapon, etc. On a hit, do 1 + STR damage.
  • DODGE: Take the dodge action; the next attack misses.
  • HIDE: Hide behind the bar, under a table, behind a pole, outside, etc. Stealth check versus brawlers' passive perception 10.
  • IMPROV: Take any action you wish. RP encouraged! Drag someone across the bar, throw them out the door, shove, trip, punch someone with someone else's fist, etc. Results adjudicated by DM: critical hits, extra actions, bonuses, etc.
